Land & Water Australia Annual Report 2006-2007
Meta was approached by Land & Water Australia to design and produce their 2006-2007 annual report. The design would need to innovative and eye catching but also needed to be based on existing style guides and make use of design elements and images provided by Land & Water Australia.

Meta produced two design concepts, one which stuck rigidly to the Land & Water Australia style guide, and the other which made use of some style guide elements but developed an identity of it’s own whilst still maintaining the Land & Water brand.
The cover design uses vibrant colours to attract the eye and images that support the Land & Water brand: water treatment, resources from land and water and rural lifestyles and farming. An overall motif image of wheat was used in the background to support these ideas. The landscape cross-section element at the bottom of the cover is something that is standard across all external Land & Water documents, this adds to the warm feel of the cover and also supports the brand.
The type used throughout was clean and conservative, but maintains a contemporary feel that’s not rigid or sterile. Main headings and sub-headings maintain this consistent look and also have enough white space around them to let the text breathe.

Due to some sections being almost entirely made up of tables, it was important to come up with a table design that made an economical use of space but was also easy to read and made sense. This was achieved by using alternate colours and strong type to differentiate cells and sections of each table.

Graphs and charts were also featured throughout the document. These were designed using information provided by Land & Water and in some instance we were able to represent these as 3-dimensional elements making them more interesting visually.
