Brumbies ‘Stampede’ match guide
For the last five years or so Meta has been designing and producing the Brumbies program guide ‘Stampede’ for the Investec Super 14 Rugby competition. Each new season calls for a different design which we come up with in consultation with the Brumbies media representative, taking into account any current styles of graphics or images that are to be used during the season.

For the 2007 version of Stampede we were able to develop a strong masthead design featuring deteriorated style type which suggests the tough, competitive elements of the game, making a strong impact on the front cover but also being legible enough to still be read easily.
In a similar style to last seasons guide, we designed the cover to feature a hero shot in reference to the main story in the top half of the cover, the bottom half of the cover features an image of some of the marquee players of 2007 (this image was part of the advertising campaign for the 2007 season and as such needed to be featured on the guide to tie the brand together).

The redesigned 2007 Stampede masthead
The internal design featured strong text headings for stories and regular features, with the colours tied back to the guides masthead on the front cover. The solid type faces used are part of the Brumbies style guide and help to support the brand throughout.

An example of a major story layout
A lot of photos were featured in the 2007 guide so we came up with a design style which would show these in the best light possible, designing them to look like photos scattered around a flat surface with yellow note paper detailing the previous matches that the photos were taken at.
